Boilers and heat exchangers are notoriously susceptible to deposit formation due to a variety of impurities in feed water. The facility&#8217;s make-up water was prepared by on-site water softening, with occasional upsets. When a boiler internal surface survey was conducted it was estimated that the accumulated scale thickness was around 0.635mm. Aware that efficiency-robbing boiler deposits could impact their bottom line, lead to hot blowdown water loss, and corrode equipment, the facility reached out to Kurita to improve boiler efficiency
